Researching Your Market For Pay Per
Click Advertising
When a big company starts a large advertising campaign, they
have already done a lot of work learning about the market that
they are selling to and the markets they want to
reach.
When you start introducing Pay
Per Click Advertising to your business, take a cue from the
big players and do the same.
First off, learn about your market. If you are running
a website that sells pet food, then check out other websites
that sell pet food. What do you like about those
sites? What do you dislike? If there is something
that you don’t like, you can bet that there are others that
don’t like it either, so write it down and use it as a way to
separate yourself from the crowd.
Second, learn about the habits and tastes of the people that
you want to sell your product to. Do they use specific
words or phrases? Are there certain types of websites
that they frequent that are related to your product? If
you find that a lot of the people who are likely to buy your
product spend their time on certain hobbyist sites or
informative sites, make note of it, as these sites will be
great places to advertise.
Here’s a tip: in order to find out what other websites
these people like, check comments sections and message
boards. People like to talk about topics they are
interested in and you’ll probably find links to other similar
sites. A little time on a message board and you could end
up with a long list of websites that you may potentially
advertise on.
Also, reading message boards and comments sections will help
you figure out what sort of language your target demographic
uses. Are there any slang terms that relate to your
product? If so, that may be a potential keyword or key
phrase to use when writing your ads.
Once you have those keywords and key phrases, type them into
a search engine and see what comes up. This will give you
an idea about other websites to advertise on and also what
other companies are using these keywords and key phrases in
their advertising.
When it comes to pay per click advertising, knowledge is
definitely power, and one of the best ways to increase your
knowledge is to get some tips from a PPC
Coach – an expert who has already overcome the obstacles
that you will face – and one is who is willing to share their
tactics.
