Setting Goals for Pay Per Click
Advertising
When designing your pay per click advertising campaign, you
need to be focused on particular goals. Because pay per
click can lead to a number of different ends, it is important
to know exactly where you are heading.
Do you simply want to boost your profits? Do you want
to appeal to a new demographic group? And maybe you just
want to expand awareness about a certain product or
service.
Whichever goal you are seeking, or a combination of goals,
it is important to know from the outset so that you can use
strategies that will get you those results. For example,
if you are going after and extremely targeted demographic
(let’s say, women aged 30-35 who have kids and pets), the way
you setup your ads, the key phrases and content that you use
will be drastically different than if you were going after a
much broader range of people (like web surfers who listen to
music).
Also, if you are running a campaign that seeks
to build awareness of a product or service, the tone of
your ads would have a more informative feel than an ad
that is specifically selling a certain product.
Before you get into the nuts and bolts of starting your
campaign, write down your specific goals. These
goals can be a far-reaching as you want them to
be.
Once you have these end goals written down, start trying to
figure out the steps that you need to take. For example,
if you want to build a website that generates a lot of traffic,
then the keywords and the language you use in writing your
advertisements should be broad and appeal to a wide range of
people.
If you want to focus in on a certain demographic, then
research that demographic to get a feel for the websites those
people spend their time on and the type of language that they
use. Then, write your ads using that language and post
them on those sites.
Also, don’t feel constrained by just one goal. If you
want to have that higher traffic and generate a lot of profit,
then do it in steps. First start a wide, awareness
building campaign, and then once you have a reliable base, you
can start targeting sections of the base for specific
services.
Building a profitable website with the help of pay per click
advertising, is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It takes
proper planning and plenty of patience, and getting expert help
to show you the do’s and dont’s of this potentially lucrative
form of marketing.
